We are located in the very North East corner of Montana and both have a passion for our livestock. We (Jolyn & Shad) just recently got married in September of 2016, so we are fairly new in sharing this passion together, but it is by no means a "new" passion. We ranch and farm small grains and pulse crops. Both of our families have been involved in farming and ranching for generations.

 

The Dillon side of the family was involved in multiple different ventures, farming, raising cattle, horses, elk, buffalo, & hogs to name a few, all while having business's in town. Jolyn's grandfather Clarence & his brother Sylvester both ranched & raised horses also. Sylvester brought race horses from Kentucky, while Clarence's were more ranch type horses. They both did roman riding and raced each other at the local fair. It is still debated who won more often!

The Haber side of the family raised cattle as well as race horses. Turns out Shads father jockey'd with Jolyn's uncle Sylvester back in the day. Shads mothers side of the family, are well known for their registered herefords, Schock Polled Hereford Company. We have been able to keep these bloodlines going & still have the registered Herefords. We are lucky enough to be able to jumpstart that program again as well!

 

We have been able to get involved in the registered Simmental and Sim-angus business by Jolyn's mother, Mary, who bought some registered cows from the Skillestad Ranch dispersion in 2009 and it has taken off from there! Soon there after X Bar X Simmental was formed. They have made quite the impression on us and we are very excited to where the future will take us!. We believe we can help you achieve the perfect crossbred calves whether you want to keep them black or want the sought after baldy face.
